Milan, May 28, 2025 - The 111th Congress of the SIO (Società Italiana di Otorinolaringoiatria e Chirurgia Cervico-Facciale, i.e. Italian Society of Otolaryngology and Brain-Facial Surgery), a landmark event for the medical-scientific community, kicks off today in Padua. Once again this year, Amplifon Italia is actively participating, consolidating its role in promoting research and scientific dissemination in audiology and otology.

Among the highlights of the event, on May 29, Amplifon Italy is organizing the symposium "The importance of when, in the relationship between hearing rehabilitation and cognitive impairment."

The debate will take its cue from the Dementia Lancet Commission's Report 2024[1] , which lists hearing loss as one of fourteen risk factors for cognitive decline. According to the research, early intervention on hearing loss in middle-aged individuals can significantly reduce the impact of dementia. The symposium, organized by Amplifon Italia together with Prof. Anna Rita Fetoni and Prof. Nicola Quaranta, will offer an in-depth discussion based on clinical cases and scientific studies, reiterating the importance of early action in the management of hearing loss.

"The SIO Congress represents an essential appointment for the scientific updating of ENT physicians. - explains Nicoletta Mannari, Head of Medica at Amplifon Italia - Through its participation, Amplifon Italia reaffirms its commitment to supporting professional growth and fostering discussion among experts. In particular, the symposium dedicated to the link between hearing loss and cognitive decline highlights the importance of early diagnosis and prevention, fundamental aspects to ensure a better quality of life."
